I think it's the next door she goes through. The door represents "how far" she walking away. One more door, one mile further.

I think that it represents commuication. Both the mom and the daughter are interacting with each other. It's what her man is not doing, so I think the T.V. symbolizes what she wants.

Reply to TJFATE450: Even Freud said "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar"...your explanation is possible but I think it is simpler. She has already thought about leaving her boyfriend down to the route..."half way down the block" the blacktop area or "half way to the moon" - the canyon and desert scence which ironically are the most similar landscapes to the moon on Earth...that's just my guess
