@carnationcorsages I was just kidding, cool your jets there mister! However soccer, the real FOOTBALL, has been played much longer than Americanized football...ergo it should be called football here in America as well, because all the players use their feet, minus the goalkeepers, whereas American football, is mostly a toss and catch game, and I am pretty sure that is mostly acquired by the utilization of HANDS, ergo it should be called handball. Has a catchy ring, don'tcha think? (;

@MorganLovesAniston its not like "being big and bad" is the sole reason why the name was changed, in fact it probably isn't the reason at all. "Soccer" being bigger and badder is a really subjective statement. But anyway the name football , in america, would be confusing as it's shared by the american sport. This is the really publicly accepted view of why the name was changed.
